Thank you to all who came along and planted a tree (or several) today, it was nice to see so many people from Helmdon all in one field! We can all look forward to walking through a wood in many years to come.
A Royal Sandringham Oak is planted to the edge of the footpath and Lee Sparrow has kindly installed a seat surround for all to admire the view and trees in the future. Thank you very much to Phillip Ward Tree Warden for organising a great village event and to gardeners Helen Tims and Mikey and Owen Brunsden for providing very useful tree advice and planting help. We are very grateful to Lynn Walmsley and Lynn Gartside for keeping everyone warm and energised with refreshments all day. Especially thank you to Lee Sparrow for providing us with the land in which to plant the Jubilee Wood

Lost Property: Found at the Jubilee Wood today a ladies blue-grey waterproof jacket, brand name Wynnster. Let me know if it's yours!

Where have all the "jackdaws/crows" ( the ones that nest in your chimney) gone?
My mum noticed there aren't any on Station Road and I gave just been sitting out and we have none either. They usually sit on the chimneys even though they can't get down them.

A big thank you to Keith Jones and HSGWAG for all the hard work they did to try and prevent the wind farm. Also thanks to those people who faced the daunting task of speaking at the recent Appeal. Helmdon hasn't prevented this unsuitable siting but, because of them, the village had a jolly good try!

I am trying to find a suitable home for an unfortunate purchase. We had intended to get 4 hens to replace a recent fox invasion. We were actually sold 3 cockerels and 1 hen!!! We have managed to rehome 2 of the cockerels but the remaining 1 is a bit noisy for our liking and we would dearly like to see him go. He is a very handsome Silky (not a big breed) and if anyone is interested we will be happy to introduce you.

Please contact me by email if you know of anyone who would give it the home that it deserves.

Thanks

Sarah

My name is David Beesley of Stretton,Warrington,Cheshire.During a recent clear out of my garage i came across an amount of legal documentation that i aquired at auction in Manchester many years ago. Most of it refers to the purchase of land around Glebe farm for the extension of the Manchester,Sheffield and Northampton Railway dating from 1894 and thereabouts.Much reference is made to Jeffery Tredwell of Bacon House,Finmere and also an interesting lovely handwritten abstract of title referring to Joseph and William Painter.Do you know of any descendants of these people who may still be in the area ?.I would be happy to pass on these approx 15-20 documents for a donation to Macmillan Nurses.

Vincent would like to thank all the people of the village for their generosity at Judy’s funeral. The final amount comes to £1,033 which was extremely good of everyone. This will be shared by the Hospice at Home and Marie Curie organisations and will be presented by Mr Martin Humphries of the funeral directors.

We seem to be hearing a lot through the grapevine about the campaign of thieving currently blighting the village, maybe an idea to get the neighbourhood watch folks to call a meeting so that we could consider how we could jointly make our village less attractive as a target?

Just a thought.
