Page 2 of 2. Timothy BULL (1683-1738). Inventory.
Notes
1. It is presumed the mare was for riding, not for butchering!
2. It is clear that he was brewing beer in his cellar - a practice
which his son Timothy took up when he became 1st licensee of 'The
Chequers'. This may have been on the same premises, although in
the 18th Century broadsheet relating to his daughter, the murderess
Elizabeth Fawson (nee Bull) he was said to be of 'The Red Lyon'.
3. An andiron is a metal stand for supporting burning wood on a
hearth and a trencher is a wooden platter for serving food. (Concise
Oxford Dictionary).
4. The total value of £14.7s.0d would be worth about £1625
in 2002, according to www.eh.net/hmit/ppowerbp.
A multiplier of about 110 is therefore appropriate.
