Frank John Morris.
|
Frank passed away on Friday 25th August 2006. He was born in Chesterfield
on 12 September 1951, the only son of Florrie and John Morris. He
attended Chesterfield Grammar School, and then studied French and
Spanish at Hull University, graduating in 1974. He later added some
Italian and Japanese and put his languages to good use in his career,
traveling extensively in Europe, the Far East, South America and Australasia.
He worked, largely on export sales at Dunlop, TI, PCL, Royal Worcester,
Boots and most recently at Bronnley where he was Sales Director.
Frank was a loyal and devoted son, and he deservedly took great pride
in his educational and professional achievements. He had a fantastic
sense of humour, which endeared him to a wide range of friends, young
and old. Almost everybody who knew Frank has a funny story to tell
about him. He was a man with many sides to his character: a joker,
an intellectual, a champagne socialist, a faithful friend. He was
honest and forthright, and had a sympathetic ear.
He had many passions: Sheffield Wednesday, a wide range of popular
music, the cinema, a good meal and a pint, and friends old and new.
Recently, he spent a great deal of time researching part of his family's
history. As a result of tenacious research, he managed to take his
mother to the battlefield in Belgium where her father, Frank, died
in 1917. He took up golf and the guitar with great enthusiasm. He
greatly enjoyed foreign travel, both on business and pleasure.
Frank was a loving husband to his first wife Sue, and after her untimely
death, to Jo, with whom he spent 10 extremely happy years following
their wedding in Helmdon, Northants, in 1996. He is also survived
by his mother Florrie and his stepson Peter.
A Memorial Service to remember Frank's life was held at the Parish
Church, Helmdon (Northants) on 8th October 2006.
