Minutes of a special Meeting of the Helmdon Parish
Council held on
Wednesday, 23rd April 2003
in the Reading Room, Helmdon at 7:20 p.m.
Present: Councillors Burns, Brookhouse,
Glassett, Bearman, England, Gittens, Earl and Spendlove.
Apologies: were received from Cllr Ayres who was in hospital.
I. Helmdon Parish Plan:
The Clerk submitted an application to the Countryside Agency
for a grant towards the Helmdon Parish Plan.
Cllr Brookhouse said that the application shows a contribution
from the Parish Council of £269.27 whereas only £200
has been allocated in the budget. He said that the Council should
agree to the budgetted figure and let the £69.27 balance
run into the 2004/5 budget. This was agreed to.
Cllr Earl proposed, Cllr Brookhouse seconded and it was agreed
unanimously that the Helmdon Parish Council support the Grant
Application to be made by the Council on behalf of the Helmdon
Parish Plan and instruct the Parish Clerk to sign the necessary
Parish and Town Plans Grant Application Form and Grant Terms &
Conditions and Agreement on behalf of the Council.
2. Acceptance of a tender for grass cutting in 2003
The Clerk reported that adverts inviting tenders for the grass
cutting in 2003 were published on the Council Notice Boards in
March and tenders were invited from interested contractors to
arrive no later than 10th April 2003.
Two tenders were received from suitable contractors:
Tender 1 is for the sum of ..................£675
Tender 2 is for the sum of ..................£750
It was proposed by Cllr Glassett and seconded by Cllr Brookhouse
and agreed unanimously that the lowest tender of £675 from
C & E should be accepted subject to satisfactory public liability
insurance.
There was no further business and the meeting closed at 7.38 pm.
