Dr Peter Hill came to Helmdon WEA several years ago to talk on ‘The Green Man’,  which subject fascinated his audience.

He is a member of the project team involved in the lottery funded Whittlebury Villages Project ‘Rose of the Shires’.  Although Helmdon is not one of the villages included in this wide ranging  historical survey, several Helmdon WEA  members have attended the interesting sessions. 

He has written two books on Northamptonshire, Folklore In Northamptonshire (which was given an award for the best publication in folklore studies in London), and  more recently, Secret Northamptonshire (which hss several references to Helmdon). He is currently researching a book on the history of the county's  pubs.  

Folklore in Northamptonshire (Yhe History Press, 2005 with this edition first published 2009), and Secret Northamptonshire (Amberley Publishing, 2009) can be otained at The Old Hall Bookshop and, if you are in Northampton, Waterstones has devoted a window display to it.
