Helmdon.com wins major web site
prize
Helmdon has joined the growing number of villages in South
Northamptonshire that are reaching out to communities by launching
their own award-winning web site.
Helmdon is a very active village that has just won the Northamptonshire
Association of Councils for Rural England (ACRE) Calor Gas
Northamptonshire Village of the Year. The web site www.helmdon.com,
has won three awards in 2002 and has also been nominated for
a national award.
Danny Moody, Helmdon Village Webmaster, said he thought helmdon.com
was good for the village, the District and the County. He
said: The web site is important to the village because it
provides a virtual meeting place for groups and individuals.
People have become more involved in village activities because
they are able to find out what was going on."
The site has proved so popular that other villages in South
Northamptonshire have contacted Helmdon to find out what is
involved in setting up a village web site.
This has led to a Webmaster's group which has brought together
residents from Helmdon, Eydon, Greatworth, Crowfield and Whitfield.
