Good reason to party
A 100th birthday and leaving celebration gave residents
and workers at Brackley Fields Country House Residential
Home reason to let their hair down last week.
Alice Hearne turned 100 years old on Friday, July 25, and
shared her mammoth celebration with cook Sandra Scott, who
was leaving Brackley Fields after fifteen years service.
Co-proprietor of Brackley Fields, John Rayner, said: "Alice
came to us on January 18, 2003, she's very active and still
plays the piano.
"She has about 135 birthday cards and enough flowers
to fill a whole room - the place looked like a florist's
shop!
"She's very popular in the community here."
He added: "We all went out to a pub for Sandra's leaving
do and the number of presents and things she received can
only serve as an indication of the fondness and esteem in
which she is held"
Mrs Scott is leaving her job at Brackley Fields to try her
hand at cake artistry, creating cake decorations using fine
sugar.
