Jason - Travel For All

Over recent weeks there has been considerable coverage in the press concerning the Jason, demand responsive community transport service, which operates across the entire South Northamptonshire area.

Financial difficulties have been overcome as a result of funding received from Northamptonshire County Council and South Northants Council and this will safeguard the service until April 2005. A Partnership has been formed and the South Northants volunteer Bureau will now manage the service.

The new service has been renamed "Jason - Travel For All" to reflect that it is available to people of all ages and abilities living in the SNC area who experience difficulty accessing suitable public transport. To improve the service new technology has been introduced which facilitates communications with the drivers. This enables journey requests to be allocated whilst the drivers are on route. It is therefore now possible for users to book and travel on the same day, subject to availability.

Bookings are now made using a free phone number to the Journey Line which is open to accept journey requests between 7.00am and 5.00pm on weekdays. At present the service operates from 9.00am to 4.30pm weekdays, it is hoped to extend this service in due course.
