Residents win mast battle
Villagers have won a battle to stop plans for a 15 metre high
phone mast on top of a nearby hill.
The objectors from the small hamlet of Falcutt argued the
Orange mast and base station was in the wrong place.
It would have been unscreened by trees and would have dominated
an unspoilt stretch of countryside. There were also worries
at the uncertain health dangers to nearby homes.
South Northamptonshire Council ruled the mast was contrary
to its planning policies. The council said it was too prominent
and an intrusive form of development in open countryside.
It suggested Orange reconsider the siting of the mast.
Orange has a right to appeal to the Secretary of State against
the decision.
