Village Clicks With The County Judges
Helmdon is a switched on village - according to the judges
in the 2005 Northamptonshire Village of the Year competition.
The village came first in the Information Communication Technology
category of the annual contest, organised by Northamptonshire
Action with Communities in Rural England.
Helmdon was also runner-up in the medium villages section
of the main competition.
ACRE's chairman, David Scudamore, said: "Judges had a
difficult but enjoyable task of selecting the winners. Helmdon
will go forward to represent the county in the national English
Calor Village of the Year competition in the ICT category."
The competition organiser for Northamptonshire ACRE, Celia
Rayner, said: "The event went extremely well and I hope
that even more communities will be encouraged to get involved
in 2006."
