Village set for carnival
A Northamptonshire village will be in carnival mood this weekend.
The three-day Helmdon carnival begins on Saturday and continues
through until Bank Holiday Monday.
The event starts with a children's disco on Saturday followed
by dancing to Nightshift and Montana at the sports field at
7.30pm. Tickets are £6 in advance, £7 at the gate,
children under 14 free. A barbecue and bar will be operating.
Sunday sees a fun quiz at the Bell Inn commencing at 8pm.
Bank Holiday Monday includes a procession through the village
led by a brass band at 1.15pm followed by a full afternoon
of events and activities including a dog show, martial arts
display, aerobatic display, sheep shearing, vintage ploughing,
archery, children's playground, local craft stalls, and much
more.
