The Helmdon village website topped more than 11,000 visitors
for January which smashed the previous record for the best month.
During January the site received 11,210 visitors and broke through
the 10,000 visitors per month mark for the very first time.
They smashed the previous best month record of 9,921 visitors
in October 2005.
The website helped Helmdon to the title of Calor ICT Village
of the Year for Central England in December 2005.
This built on its previous success when it was voted UK Village
Web Site of the Year in 2003.
The site has also featured on the BBC and has been used by various
organisations as an example of best practice.
Webmaster Danny Moody said: "It is a testament to the fact
that content is king. Although flashy animated web sites may
look good to start with, what visitors really want is fresh,
up to date and useful content."
The site for Helmdon, a village with 350 households and a population
of around 950 has more than 1,500 pages, 70 historical articles,
and a picture gallery with more than 200 old photographs.
Mr Moody added: "Family history really drives our visitor
numbers.
"We get hits from all over the world from genealogists
researching family histories and finding a Helmdon connection.
It's humbling to discover how far the influence of a small village
in South Northants has stretched."
