Village gets its own website
Residents in Helmdon will now be able to
find out what is going on in their village by logging on
to the internet.
By visiting www.helmdon.f2s.com villagers
will be able to find out about the history of the village
and keep up to date with events that are going to take place.
The idea first came about at a village
meeting about eighteen months ago. A lottery grant allowed
those involved with the site to purchase a digital camera.
Danny Moody, who was involved in the production
of the website said: "The website is for the community written
by members of the community. We rely totally on contributions."
The official leaflet drop to advertise
the website started on Monday.
"It has two main objectives, one is to
show the history of the village, and there's a lot of information
on that on the site already, and the second is to advertise
all activities that go on in the village."
"We've got village information and some
very good articles on the history."
"Some people have already been putting
up messages on the site. Everyone that has looked at it
so far said it's excellent. As a village I think we're quite
switched on IT wise".
