Helmdon Acorns Pre-School |

We are registered to accept up to 26 children from 2 years until they start primary school and operate from HELMDON ACORNS PRE-SCHOOL, Hintons Close, Helmdon, NN13 5QP. Our building was completed in December 2010 and comprises a bright open-plan playroom, kitchen with low-level worktops for the children's cookery sessions, purpose-built children's WCs and ancillary staff area. Outside there is a fantastic space which includes an all-weather canopy to allow the children to play outside however bad the weather, a large grassed area with play mound and tunnel and a patio with steps for the children to use as a stage or however they want! There is also a vegetable and fruit garden as well as a general digging area. The children really love their treehouse with climbing wall and slide. We are open as follows: Monday to Friday term-time only
Children may attend for any combination of the above, as long as we have space available. We are a registered charity managed by a voluntary committee of parents. Children aged 3 years are entitled to 15 hours per week free education for the calendar block after their third birthday. Fees are payable for children aged two years, or those enrolled for more than 15 hours per week. We set the fees at a level merely to cover costs and ensure that we can continue to fulfil our charitable aims. We employ a team of eight dedicated staff: Anne Somerton is Acting Pre-School supervisor, assisted by Sarah Carus-Moore, Kim Sadler, Sally Brookhouse, Victoria Webster, Sue Morgan and Julia Toman. Liz Hart is our Pre-School administrator. Due to increasing numbers of children since we opened the new building, we will be running our morning sessions with four members of staff for the summer term. We hope to recruit a new staff member shortly. We are lucky to be located in a beautiful village setting which gives us the opportunity for many excursions - the children are taken on walks around the village looking at animals or seasonal changes, to visit the Primary School when there are special performances, or up to the Parish Church.
