Drop-In Centre

Now that our village post office has gone, we have a twice weekly part-time post office in the Reading Room on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons.

Since it's a well accepted fact that the Post Office in any village is the heart of the village we felt that something had to be done to keep a sort of central meeting place for friends, news and information (gossip? In Helmdon? Never!). To that end a public spirited number of people banded together and we provide a cup of tea or coffee and some nice biscuits for 10p, while the post office is in session. Come any time and there's usually a happy buzz of conversation!

The post office is precious and the refreshment side of things provides company and security for the post lady. If you have 2 hours to spend now and again, please phone Rosemary Gulliver on 01295 760379 - we do need some more help.

Remember: We must support our village Post Offices: USE IT OR LOSE IT
