The Parish Church provides a Very Good Lunch in the Reading Room
- on the third Tuesday of every month
- for £4.00
- with choice (normally) of two main courses and two sweets
The menu is put up in the Reading Room on the notice-board opposite the door. Sign there for your choices of main dish and sweet. The list is taken down on the Friday immediately before the third Tuesday.

The luncheon club |
This is not a club, but open to all whether they come frequently or only to meet us sometimes. Seize your chance to see the list whenever the Reading Room is open for Post Office business or when you’re attending something else that is happening there or ring me.
We provide these lunches for the pleasure and health of elderly people, but there’s no minimum age. The lunch is a good place and time to meet old friends or make new ones, and to laugh together. Come in any time from 12.30 pm; we serve at 1pm (more or less).
Ring me to ask questions, make complaints, raise difficulties of diet or transport, or offer help – or, if you can’t get at the list, to book your meal.

Monthly Lunches Relaunched - posted 22 September 2004
The Tuesday lunches in the Reading Room, which Lyndsey Glassett established and ran so well for several years, are to be revived, by a committee. We shall do most things as she did them, but of course we have to earn the right to say we shall do them as well. We are operating under the auspices of the PCC, and protected by its insurance policy.
We shall begin on November 16th, and then normally on the third Tuesday of the month. The starting price of the meal is £3.50 and we expect that to cover all expenses including room hire and electricity.
We are relying on the people who used to enjoy these lunches to tell their friends who used to come from other places, and we confidently invite older newcomers to the village to make these lunches a way of getting to know their community.
