Sundays
Morning
service is at 9.30am, and there is provision for children always,
because they are very welcome indeed.
During 9.30am Communion services on second Sundays, children may
join the Sunday Club session (from early in the service until they
join the adults taking Communion, for their blessing). Sunday
Club varies according to the age and number of children attending,
but basically it is planned teaching and activities led by adults.
Parents often come too with very young children. More teachers
to commit themselves to the programme are always welcome.
On first and third Sundays, materials will be available in the children's
corner, for children to work on the service theme in their own way.
There are soft toys and children's books for children who want to
stay with their families throughout any service. On fourth
Sundays, the 9.30am "family service" is itself designed
to meet the needs of children and adults together. It may
include a shortened form of Communion, but the teaching, hymns and
prayers are planned to include what most of the children can enjoy
sharing.
On fifth Sundays, Advent and Whit, a single service is held for
all the six churches in the Astwell benefice, and it is provided
in each one in turn. See the notices in the quarterly leaflets
of Services and Events delivered free, and notices in church porches.
Services end with coffee etc., and chat.
Weekdays
Children
not yet at school have their own Infant
Church
on third Thursdays at 11.15am.
Children who are at Acorns on Thursdays attend that, but it is not
the Acorns' own service. Therefore it is held every month
regardless of school terms and holidays. It is for all young
children, including Acorns who do not attend on Thursdays, others
of Acorn age, and all young children however new. So it is
for parents and carers as well. Infant
Church
includes singing, stories, prayers, and various activities to help
in the teaching of Christian ways and truths. Services remember
the children's birthdays, take a collection for expenses, and end
with refreshments.
For
baptism of children (and, of course, of adults), get in touch with
the Rector
or the Assistant Priest.
